LSA – payment of Christchurch invoices

The Legal Services Agency currently has no access to its Christchuch offices and this is likely to remain the case for the foreseeable future. This means their files are also inaccessible.

Since the earthquake the agency has focussed on swiftly delivering essential services, urgent criminal and family matters and duty solicitor coverage.

If lawyers haven’t heard from the agency regarding payment of legal aid invoices then they should resubmit them. These will go to another office for processing, probably Takapuna. The LSA is currently working thorugh processes for what they are going to do regarding payments for files they’ve lost or in situations where neither the lawyer nor the Agency has any records. If lawyers have got access to their offices and files they should call the local Christchurch office number (which has been diverted) and talk about what they can provide the agency on that file.

For more information see the LSA website.
