Ministry announces Emergency Procurement advice

The Ministry of Economic Development has released a Procurement Advisory Note for agencies responding to the Christchurch earthquake.

The advisory note applies to all agencies engaged in responding, but applies only to the procurement of goods and services that are necessary in responding to the emergency and providing relief. It is effective until 30 September 2011, when it will be reviewed.

The note states that agencies are permitted to forgo routine procurement procedures (as as advertising on GETS) if the delay involved in following them will prevent the delivery of goods and services in time to bring effective relief.
