Postal Services from NZ Post

NZ Post’s main Christchurch mail processing centre has escaped the quake relatively unscathed and parts of the delivery branch network will be made operational this week. It is anticipated that limited postal services will resume on Tuesday, 1 March. This will be dependent on what areas are cleared by the authorities, are deemed safe for NZ Post staff to access, and also on staff availability.

New Zealand Post is holding all mail and will update customers on its website http://www.nzpost.co.nz/about-us/media-centre/new-zealand-post-services-affected-by-canterbury-earthquake on which areas it will be able to deliver to following further reconnaissance of affected areas and information from the authorities.

All mail for the affected areas will be delivered where possible. For those addresses where this cannot be achieved, NZ Post will hold the mail at an alternative location for pickup where a redirection is not in place. Details of pick-up sites will be published from Tuesday, 1 March.

The following PostShop/Kiwibank stores in the Christchurch/Canterbury area will be open on Monday, 28 February:

  • Ashburton
  • Allenton
  • Amberly
  • Avonhead
  • Darfield
  • Edgeware
  • Halswell
  • Hornby
  • Leeston
  • Lincoln
  • Oxford
  • Papanui
  • Phillipstown
  • Tower Junction
  • Rangiora
