Law Society advised of legal aid provider application timetable

The Legal Services Agency has advised the New Zealand Law Society that it will not be accepting any applications for approval as a lead provider after 30 April, and for approval as a secondary provider after 15 June.

The Agency says it will advise when the new application forms are available for submission for approval under the new Legal Services Act, which received its third reading in Parliament on 6 April.

The Legal Services Agency says the forms will be available before the commencement of the Act, which is anticipated to be 1 July 2011. However, it says no applications made for approval under the new Act will be processed until it commences.

Inquiries should be made to the Agency.
