Law Society sends annual report to members

The New Zealand Law Society is sending an annual report to its members for the year ended 30 June 2011.

The Law Society is required to submit an annual report to the Minister of Justice on its regulation of the legal profession, and the report for 2010/11 has been sent to the Minister.

The separate members' report provides information on the Law Society's regulatory role as well as information on other activities and initiatives, including the work carried out by law reform committees and Law Society branches and sections.

The annual report to members is being distributed with the 4 November 2011 issue of LawTalk magazine.

Information contained in the report shows that New Zealand had 11,317 lawyers at the end of September 2011 of whom all but 236 were members of the Law Society.
