The New Zealand Law Society wishes all
members a Happy New Year.

the new Attorney-General, the Solicitor-General,
district law society presidents and the heads of
the NZLS sections.
Most practising lawyers renewed their practising certificates through the NZLS by 21 November, as required under the Lawyers and Conveyancers Act 2006. Those who had not renewed by that date but who were continuing to practise, were doing so without a valid practising certificate.
The NZLS Registry was following up those who had not renewed and not advised that they were ceasing practice. The names of any who had still not renewed were removed from the public register (available via the button at right of this page) on 28 November. Although paper certificates are also being issued, this register is the official record of who holds a current practising certificate. Those who renew subsequently will be put back on the register. More information is available here.

Applications are being sought from lawyers interested in acting as an independent trustee to Development West Coast, and for positions on the Dietitians Board, the Ethics Committee on Assisted Reproductive Technology, and a number of regional Ethics Committees (appointed by the Minister of Health).
