New Zealand Law Society Canterbury-Westland branch President Alastair Davis has been advised by Judge Moran that anyone currently in custody will be remanded in custody again for no more than 8 days unless there is consent to a longer period. Anyone who is on bail will have bail extended on the same terms for one month. The Ministry of Justice will write to accused and counsel about hearing dates. Bail variations will only be by consent under section 45 . (Source: Communication to NZLS Canterbury-Westland branch President).
