The Ministry of Justice has updated its information summary for stakeholders of justice service restoration initiatives underway in Christchurch.
Key elements in the summary include:
- A criminal list court will operate from Nga Hau e Wha marae on Pages Road, Christchurch from 18 April. The hearings will only be used for defendants who are not in custody. Fuller details of how the court will operate are provided.
- An average of 190 District Court criminal cases and 53 Family Court applications have been filed each week since the earthquake. Active cases in the District Court criminal jurisdiction have increased by 25% since the earthquake.
