Ministry of Justice releases another Christchurch stakeholder update

The Ministry of Justice has released another update on its response to the earthquake.

New developments include the following:

  • Identification of a site which is suitable for operating criminal list hearings, along with a target date of 18 April for these to commence. Further details of the site will be given in the week beginning 4 April.
  • Civil Defence advice is that zone 6, which contains all court buildings, will be opened on Monday, 10 April.
  • In consultation with the judiciary, the ministry is introducing integrated cross-jurisdictional scheduling, and has appointed staffr members to work as dedicated scheduling officers.
  • The ministry will hold its second staff briefing session in Christchurch at Riccarton Racecourse on 1 April.
