Christchurch High Court admission ceremony for 4 March cancelled

The Ministry of Justice has advised that the 4 March Christchurch High Court admission ceremony for new barristers and solicitors has been cancelled.

The ministry has advised the New Zealand Law Society that a new date for admissions will be communicated once there is more certainty where and when it can be held.

National Operations Manager for the Higher Courts Group, Graeme Astle, says if some practitioners require their admissions to proceed with urgency, candidates should contact the Wellington High Court, and if they are able to travel to Wellington, their admission ceremony will be accommodated on a date that suits.

Mr Astle says Auckland High Court is another option, but it is appreciated that this is a much greater distance to travel.
