The New Zealand Law Society’s Law Awareness series provides information on key areas of the law where someone is likely to consult a lawyer. The overall objective is to inform readers of their legal rights, the law and how lawyers can help them.
The series takes a plain English approach to explaining key concepts and matters for consideration. Each brochure aims to give the reader enough details to enable an informed consultation of a lawyer, the theme being “do the right thing – see your lawyer first”.
Information on the law is updated by experts involved in the Law Societies law reform committees. The date of currency is shown on each brochure.
Brochures are designed to enable law firms to place contact details and other information, making them a useful marketing and promotional resource. Each brochure includes information on the services a lawyer can provide and some of the considerations and requirements relevant to engaging a lawyer.
All brochures advise that while the information is true and accurate as at a particular date to the best of the Law Society’s knowledge, the Law Society assumes no liability for any losses suffered by anyone relying directly or indirectly on information in the pamphlet. Readers are recommended to consult a lawyer before acting on the information in a brochure.
Brochures can be purchased from the New Zealand Law Society. $20 for 20, $40 for 50 plus GST, P&P Included. Minimum order of 10 applies.
