Senior and Intermediate Lawyers - Cook Islands

The Solicitor-General seeks to employ two lawyers to join the Crown Law Office as soon as possible.

A Senior Lawyer with more than 6 years post qualification experience and expertise in some or all of criminal, public, administrative and commercial law.

An Intermediate lawyer with up to 5 years post qualification experience and developing expertise in either criminal, public, administrative or commercial law.

The successful applicants will be flexible and willing to work on a broad range of legal tasks from giving legal advice to Ministers and executive government, drafting legislation and legal documents and appearing in the High Court and the Court of Appeal in litigation cases. The successful applicants will have strong communication and advocacy skills and a willingness to manage a high case load. He or she should be a team player in an office where team mentoring and supervision is essential.

Ideally the applicants will be fluent in Cook Islands Maori and will have a sound knowledge and understanding of Cook Islands laws, culture, customs and traditions.
