Chief Justice to sit on Privy Council Lundy appeal
New Zealand Chief Justice Dame Sian Elias has been invited to sit on the Privy Council appeal hearing in Mark Lundy v R.
A briefing note from the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council says as a member of the Privy Council, Dame Sian was invited to sit on the appeal.
"It is the practice of the Judicial Committee occasionally to invite judges from the jurisdiction from where the appeal arises to sit if they are members of the Privy Council," the briefing says.
The appeal hearing will being at 11am English Time on Monday 17 June 2013 and is scheduled to last for three days.
The Board hearing the appeal will be Lord Hope (Deputy President of the Supreme Court of the United Kingdom, who will chair the Board), Lord Kerr, Lord Reed, Lord Hughes and Chief Justice Dame Sian Elias.
