Final sitting of the Christchurch courts before move to new precinct

All courts in the Durham and Armagh street courthouses in central Christchurch will have their final sittings over the next six days before all cases are held in the new Christchurch Justice and Emergency Services Precinct.

The High Court will hold its final sitting in Courtroom 1 of the Durham Street courthouse on Wednesday, 15 November at 4pm. All practitioners are invited to attend. Counsel are to be robed but not wigged.

Following the conclusion of the final sitting the judges invite counsel to
share refreshments from 5pm at the RSA, 74 Armagh Street.

The final sitting of the District Court is on 16 November at 2.15pm.  

The Family Court will hold a final sitting in Armagh 1 at the Christchurch Family Court, 85 Armagh Street, on Friday, 10 November at 4pm.  There will also be refreshments afterwards at the RSA.

All courts formally begin operations on Monday, 20 November at the new Precinct. The Canterbury Anniversary Day is on Friday, 17 November.

Meanwhile, the New Zealand Law Society Library in Christchurch closes for relocation at 5pm on Friday, 24 November. Full Library services will be operational at the Justice Precinct from 4 December.

The Library will have two dedicated spaces within the Precinct: the NZLS Library – ground floor, Emergency Services Building (B2 entrance), and the Lawyers' Room – level 3, Justice Building.

Library subscription databases will be accessible by lawyers working at both sites.
