Masterclass in Arbitration, Auckland, 12 June
In this Legal Research Foundation event, experienced arbitrator Anna Kirk reviews developments across New Zealand and English case law on arbitration, and amendments to the Arbitration Act 1996.
This seminar examines the latest developments in arbitration law, including:
* Update on proposed legislative amendments;
* Developing areas of arbitration in NZ: trusts, insolvency, environmental disputes;
* Lessons from recent case law: costs, challenging awards, tribunal secretaries;
* International Arbitration: update on NZ’s treaty commitments regarding international investment.
About the speaker
Dr Kirk is a commercial barrister at Bankside Chambers, specialising in arbitration. She has extensive arbitration experience in New Zealand and in London, where she practised in the arbitration group of a leading international law firm. Anna has been at Bankside Chambers for the past seven years, initially working alongside Sir David Williams QC (New Zealand’s leading international arbitrator) before establishing her own practice. Dr Kirk is a Fellow of the Arbitrators’ and Mediators’ Institute of New Zealand (AMINZ) and the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb).
