Law Society Library
Law Society members have access to research level NZ Law Society Library collections in the Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch High Court buildings.
Smaller branch locations provide computer “kiosks” to access the Library’s online collection. Kiosks are located at 34 courthouses throughout the country. Members can find the location of the research libraries and kiosks closest to them at www.lawsociety.org.nz/law-library/contact-the-library
The Library has a comprehensive print collection of legal resources for New Zealand as well as in-depth coverage for other common law jurisdictions.

The Library also subscribes to a large number of online resources mainly from LexisNexis, Thomson Reuters and CCH. The wide coverage of New Zealand content is accompanied by resources for Australia, United Kingdom and Canada.
Subscription databases are available to practitioners using NZ Law Society computers or WiFi in the research libraries and also via the 34 kiosks located throughout the country.

The Library produces the LINX legal database. Members can access LINX at the High Court libraries or Linxplus (via LexisNexis online) at kiosk locations.
The Library provides research services and can quickly supply copies of cases, articles or legislation. Experienced legal researchers can carry out efficient and thorough research on any legal subject. Phone or email your nearest research library, or use the online form available at lawsociety.org.nz/law-library/request-research.
The Library’s collection is reference-only however books may be borrowed for use in the courtrooms or Judges’ chambers of the court to which the Library is annexed.
Books required for other purposes may be borrowed overnight from the Auckland, Wellington and Canterbury Libraries only with the express approval of the Librarian or their representative.

Members can hire a gown for court from the Auckland, Wellington and Canterbury libraries.
