All New Zealand Law Society Te Kāhui Ture o Aotearoa offices will be closed for the holiday period from midday Friday, 22 December 2023 until 8:30am on Monday, 8 January 2024.
The Auckland, Wellington and Canterbury libraries will not be staffed during the above period. Access is available 24/7 for lawyers with an access card throughout the holiday season.
For urgent matters, you can contact us via 027 300 1029 and a member of staff will call you back if necessary. Otherwise, we will contact you when our offices reopen.

Unfortunately, the Law Society cannot provide contact details for lawyers other than those that are already publicly available. If your lawyer works for a firm, please call them. They may have an alternative lawyer available who can assist you. You could also use the Get Legal Help tool on our website to find an alternative lawyer if your matter is urgent. If you don’t know the name of the lawyer who may hold the will, you can place a will notice with the Law Society advertising that you are looking for the will.

Our best advice during this time is to contact the Legal Counselling Service which is run by Vitae and supported by the Law Society. Counsellors are available every hour of every day and you can receive up to six free sessions.

Yes, the mentoring programme runs 24/7 on a software platform and is open to all lawyers and people who are admitted but are not yet practising or are between roles and do not currently hold a practising certificate.
