Lawyer Member for Lawyers Standards Committee - Nelson

Do you want to work with a dedicated group of lawyers and lay people to make a difference and help uphold standards in your profession?

The New Zealand Law Society Te Kāhui Ture o Aotearoa is seeking expressions of interest for a lawyer member position on the Nelson Standards Committee. The position is for an initial term of two years.

Lawyers Standards Committees consider conduct complaints and reports about lawyers and law firm employees and direct the associated investigation and independent decision-making for appropriate disciplinary outcomes.

We are seeking lawyer members with experience in one or more of the following areas: civil litigation, company/commercial law, property, trusts, and estates.

You must have practised as a lawyer for a period or periods totalling no less than five years and be of good character with the skill, experience and judgment needed to investigate and consider complaints.

You will work collaboratively the Committee members and be supported by dedicated staff in the Lawyers Complaints Service. There is reading and some preparation before each monthly meeting.
