Statutory Regulations replaced by Legislative Instruments

Statutory regulations now have a new name and a new abbreviation. From 2014, what were formerly SR’s or statutory regulations, orders in council and other items are now officialy called Legislative Instruments. All new Legislative Instruments will have an "LI" reference number, eg LI 2014/37 rather than SR 2014/37. The new format for reference numbers appears in search and browse results on the New Zealand Legislation website for Legislative Instruments made from January 2014 onwards.
The Legislation Act 2012 changed the terminology for secondary legislation from 5 August 2013, but to allow a clean changeover, the SR series was continued until the end of 2013.
