What's in the library
The library offers an extensive collection of print and online resources to support the needs of legal practitioners.
The Library catalogue provides bibliographic and holdings information for texts and serials held at Law Society libraries in Auckland, Wellington, Canterbury and Otago.
A list of new titles purchased is published monthly. Most of the library’s collection is non-borrowable except for use in court. Contact your nearest Law Society library for more information on borrowing policies.
The Law Society library provides practitioners with a comprehensive online collection of legal databases and legal links.
The CCH, LexisNexis and Thomson Reuters resources which are available offer in-depth information on all areas of New Zealand law along with important Australian, Canadian and United Kingdom material. Access is through dedicated library computer terminals around the country. NB: Although links to the databases are available on this website, practitioners are unable to access the databases via these links from their own computers unless they already subscribe.
Links to other selected legal websites provide access to legislation and caselaw from various jurisdictions. These websites can be accessed from practitioners own computers.
