Guiding your clients through rural succession planning
Wellington region lawyers with clients in rural areas have the opportunity to participate in a special one-hour NZLS CLE Ltd webinar aimed at clarifying the complex issues around rural succession planning.
Succession Planning for Rural Practitioners will be presented on 8 June for one hour from 11:00am. It will look at how practitioners who advise agricultural families can help guide their clients through a thoughtfully managed process of communication, planning and good structuring to a fair and successful outcome which is acceptable to all families members and which avoids unnecessary accounting and legal costs.
The presenters will be Tim Black, a partner at Anderson Lloyd in Dunedin, and Frazer Weir, a partner at Polson Higgs, Christchurch.
They say succession planning is not a "one size fits all" matter, and will use a practical case study to consider the conceptual issues to take into account. These include profitability/financing, communication, timing, taxation and structuring.
Registrations are required by 4pm on 7 June. Everyone who registers at least seven days before this date will be sent a background booklet before the webinar date. Registration costs $91 for Law Society members and $121 for non-members. Further information is available here.
