18 September 2019

  • Want to be a litigator and have work-life balance?
  • Interesting and varied work
  • Earn above market remuneration

The Opportunity

We have an exciting opportunity for a junior solicitor with approximately one to three years' experience to join the team in our busy Auckland City office, and be involved in high profile and interesting work.
With opportunities for learning and exposure not often afforded to junior solicitors, we offer interesting and varied work combined with great working hours, and the opportunity to earn above market remuneration.

The Role

You will be involved in a range of legal matters, including major class action litigation, and can expect high levels of responsibility and mentorship.  The role will require you to assist with all aspects of litigation, including managing files, liaising with clients and other parties, drafting correspondence, pleadings and submissions, and attending mediation and Court hearings.

The Ideal You

A background in civil or commercial litigation is an advantage, but is not essential.  If you are interested in working in litigation and have the qualities below, we will support you to make this transition.

You will have a strong and client-focused work ethic and good business acumen.  You will be confident, motivated and have excellent communication skills (both verbal and written). You will be reliable, and must be able to work independently and well organised to manage a varied work load effectively.

About Us

We are a busy litigation and disputes resolution practice best known for our work in construction disputes, leaky building litigation and large class actions.  Our clients range from home owners to body corporates to large construction companies.  We have expertise across a broad range of areas including property litigation, valuation disputes, land compensation claims and in advising body corporates. Some of our staff hold BProp or BCom degrees. The firm has a particular interest in litigation funding.

Applicants must have NZ residency or a valid NZ work permit. You must also have a current practising certificate. All applications will be received in the strictest confidence.

Please email your application (cover letter, CV and academic transcript) in confidence to: maryclaire@adinathorn.co.nz, or contact Adina directly and in confidence on 021 654 442.
