Nominations sought for the Social Security Appeal Authority (SSAA)
The SSAA is an independent statutory tribunal, which was established under Section 12A of the Social Security Act 1964 and which continues under Schedule 8 of the Social Security Act 2018. Its function is to hear appeals against decisions on income support entitlements made by the Ministry of Social Development that have been confirmed or varied by a local Benefits Review Committee.
Appointments to the Social Security Appeal Authority (SSAA) are made by the Governor-General on the recommendation of the Minister for Social Development, after consultation with the Minister of Justice.
Opportunity/Skills & Experience:
The Minister for Social Development is looking to propose one new appointment to the SSAA for consideration by the Governor General. Please note that for this appointment, the Minister is looking for a candidate with:
- strong connections to the Pasifka community
- good decision-making and communication skills; and
- specific skills relating to trusts and companies.
