Karen Clark QC appointed to High Court bench
Karen Clark QC has been appointed a Judge of the High Court.
Justice Clark graduated with an LLB from Victoria University of Wellington in 1986 and was admitted in December 1986. She joined the Crown Law Office as a Crown Counsel Assistant and was appointed Crown Counsel in 1988.
Justice Clark led Crown Law's public commercial team for six years before becoming a Deputy Solicitor-General in 2002.
She went to the independent bar in 2007 and was appointed Queen's Counsel on 14 May 2007.
Justice Clark is a member of the New Zealand Council of Legal Education and the New Zealand Council of Law Reporting. She is also recognised as a Special Advocate under the Immigration Act.
The new judge will sit in Wellington.
