Determination increases Coroner salaries by 1.7%
The Remuneration Authority has made the Coroners (Salaries and Superannuation) Determination 2017, setting and salaries and superannuation rights of coroners and a Chief Coroner who is not a Judge.
The determination, which was notified in the Gazette on 13 July 2017, is deemed to have come into force on 1 January 2017 and expires on 31 December 2017.
It sets the annual salary payable to a coroner at $269,200 and the salary payable to a Chief Coroner who is not a Judge at $344,900. This is an increase of 1.7% from the 2016 Determination which has been revoked.
Each coroner and the Chief Coroner are also paid a taxable National Duty Coroner allowance of $10,400/annum in recognition of the fact that all coroners and the Chief Coroner are, from time to time, rostered to act as National Duty Coroner.
