Ombudsman launches three OIA/LGOIMA investigations

The Office of the Ombudsman says the Chief Ombudsman has commenced three new self-initiated investigations into the official information practices of the public sector.

The investigations aim to establish whether the agencies have good practices when dealing with Official Information Act 1981 or Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act 1987 practices.

The agencies involved are the Treasury, Horowhenua District Council, and Christchurch City Council.

The Office says it is seeking feedback and there is a survey for people who have recently requested information from one of the three agencies within the last 6 to 12 months.

The surveys are open until 16 November 2018.
