Privacy Right to Know Day is coming

24 August 2017

The Office of the Privacy Commissioner has announced that the annual Right to Know Day for 2017 will take place on 28 September.

Right to Know Day is dedicated to raising awareness of the legal right New Zealanders have to see the information that organisations hold about them.

The Office says both the Privacy Act 1993 and the Official Information Act 1982 are important cornerstones of transparency and democracy and are worth celebrating.

This year, the Office of the Privacy Commissioner is joining forces with the Office of the Ombudsman to mark the occasion.

They will be holding a PrivacyLive forum, and other events yet to be announced, designed to inform and educate people on their rights concerning our privacy laws.
