Ellett Forbes Page, 1915 - 1982
Mr EF Page, formerly a partner in the legal firm of Perry, Wylie, Pope & Page, and latterly a consultant to the firm, died at Wellington on 1 August 1982. He was aged 67.
Mr Page was born at Eketahuna in 1915. He began his legal career as a Judge's Associate in the years 1936-39 to Hon Sir Arthur Fair and in 1939-40 to Hon Sir Hubert Ostler, and was admitted to the Bar in 1939.
He joined the Royal New Zealand Air Force in 1939 as a pilot and served with the Royal Air Force in England, Middle-East, India and Burma, returning to New Zealand in 1945 as a Squadron Leader. During his period with the Royal Air Force he served on Courts of Inquiry, Courts Martial and was Defending Officer for Air-crews both in England and in India. He was appointed a personal pilot to the Viceroy of India, Lord Linlithgow, and served on the staff of the Supreme Allied Commander, Lord Louis Mountbatten. He was a Vice-President of the Air Force Association in 1947-49.
Mr Page was the author of two legal text books Tenancy Legislation in New Zealand published in 1953 and co-author with JR (now Sir John) Marshall of Law of Watercourses and a handbook for catchment boards published in 1957. He was a Director of Aurora Group Ltd, Merck Sharpe & Dohme (New Zealand) Ltd and Rigg-Zschokke Ltd.
He is survived by his wife, two daughters and a son, and four step-sons.
