William Stanley Julius (Bill) Alcock, 1921 - 1979
Palmerston North lawyer Bill Alcock died on 13 September 1979 aged 58.
Bill Alcock who was deeply involved in education and community groups in Palmerston North, practised on his own in Palmerston North.
Bill Alcock was involved in cultural groups, especially the theatre, and was a founding member and past president of the Lions Club in Palmerston North. He was a founder of the Manawatu Art Gallery, a life member of the Manawatu Theatre Society, a past president of the Manawatu Repertory Society and a past president of the Palmerston North Jaycees.
Even with all that involvement in the Palmerston North community he carried on an extensive practice both in conveyancing and in the court. A judicial tribute was given by Mr Justice Quilliam in the Palmerston North Supreme Court and Mr Hugh Williams on behalf of the District Law Society said of Mr Alcock that he was thoughtful and painstaking on his clients' behalf and dogged in their defence.
Bill Alcock is survived by his wife June and two children.
