Auckland law school retains top NZ ranking

The University of Auckland has again been ranked the best in New Zealand for studying law.

Legal education at the University Auckland was ranked 32nd in the world, and the best in New Zealand, in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2016

Auckland went up in the world rankings by one place, while Victoria University of Wellington dropped from 45th-equal to be ranked between 51 and 100 internationally and the University of Waikato slipped into a 151-200 place ranking. 

The QS World University Rankings have been published each year since 2004. 

Their website states: "The rankings highlight the world's top universities in 42 subjects, based on academic reputation, employer reputation and research impact." More information about the QS ranking methodology here.

The ranking process relies on four data sets to measure performance – two surveys of academics and employers, and two indicators that evaluate research impact based on academic citations per paper.

The New Zealand rankings are as below, with the top 10 universities for law internationally also shown.
