The New Zealand Animal Law Association's second conference has the theme "Creating a better legal system for animals".

The conference is being held at the Auckland University of Technology on Saturday, 28 September 2019.

The association says the conference will feature New Zealand and international experts.

Camille Labchuck, Executive Director of Animal Justice, Canada's leading animal law charity, will deliver the keynote speech on "Giving a voice to animals in the legal system". Ms Labchuck is one of Canada’s leading animal rights lawyers.

Other topics covered at the conference will include New Zealand's animal welfare enforcement regime and proposals for reform, and how animal activists can better effect positive change for animals.
