A final sitting will be held on 7 March for Justice Raynor Asher in the Court of Appeal to mark his retirement.

After graduating BA, LLB(Hons) from the University of Auckland in 1972, Justice Asher obtained an LLM from the University of California (Berkley). He returned to work at the firm which is now Kensington Swan, where he was a partner from 1976 until 1986 when he became a barrister sole.

He was appointed Queen’s Counsel in 1992. President of the New Zealand Bar Association from 1996 to 1998, he was Vice President, Auckland of the New Zealand Law Society from 2003 to 2005.

Justice Asher was appointed to the High Court bench on 17 August 2005. He was appointed to the Court of Appeal on 22 July 2016.

The sitting will be held at 4pm and counsel attending should wear a black robe and no wigs.
