Mark Sherry – New PLS Chair, Christchurch

Mark has practised law since 1995, became a partner at Harmans in 2002 and is currently the managing partner of the firm based in Christchurch.

Mark leads a large property focused team with a wide range of clients from large developers and a mall owner through to small investors and private clients.

Mark has been an elected member of the Property Law Section’s executive committee since 2015, held the role of deputy chair for the past four years and is a PLS Accredited Specialist.

Mark enjoys his role on the executive, as well as the face to face meetings with property practitioners when the PLS hosts Thinking Property sessions around the country. He has a good knowledge of how the PLS is addressing the current issues that property lawyers are facing.

Over the last year or so Mark has been heavily involved in subcommittees dealing with property matters affected by Covid, and providing advice to the Ministry of Justice on Covid related proposals and legislation. Mark is also a member of the 2020-21 NZLS CLE Property Law Conference organising committee.

His leisure time interests include running, mountain biking, playing golf, fishing and white-baiting as well as regular walks with his St Bernard. He is an avid rugby and cricket supporter and a self-proclaimed one-eyed Cantabrian.

Kristine King – New Deputy Chair, Auckland

Kristine has been a director of Duncan King Law since 2013 and prior to that a partner of Wadsworth Ray. She has been practising in Auckland in property matters since 2002.

Kristine is a PLS Accredited Specialist and volunteers her time to the New Zealand Law Society through her work with the PLS Law Reform Committee and as the convenor of an Auckland Standards Committee. She was recently appointed as a member of the Lawyers and Conveyancers Disciplinary Tribunal.

In the last year Kristine has authored two articles for the PLS publication The Property Lawyer and is keen to be an active and engaged PLS member.

In addition, Kristine is the current chair of NZ Law, an association of 55 independent legal practices from around New Zealand and is a regular speaker on property topics for ANZ Bank, Bayleys Real Estate and other property focused organisations.
