Limited partnerships to have NZBN as primary identifier

This article is over 3 years old. More recent information on this subject may exist.

All limited partnerships registered on the New Zealand Companies Office Business Registers platform will from now on have the New Zealand Business Number (NZBN) as their primary identifier.

In October this year the Limited Partnerships Registers were moved to the Business Registers platform – already home to sole traders, partnerships, trusts and public sector entities.

The NZBN will eventually replace the legacy numbers for limited partnerships, and all other business entities. A unique form of identification, the NZBN links to key information businesses are most often required to share, meaning they don’t have to repeat this information multiple times.

“We’re on the way to creating one place where all New Zealand businesses are registered, making it easier for those businesses (and the organisations who support them) to keep their records up to date and to comply with legislation,” says Lawrence Wells, National Manager, Business Registries.
