New lawyers are being invited to sign up for the National Mooting Competition 2016.

Participants enter as teams of two and registrations close at 5pm on Monday 2 May 2016. Teams will be registered on a first-come, first-served basis.

The competition's primary sponsor is the New Zealand Law Foundation, with support from the New Zealand Law Society and the New Zealand Bar Association.

The competition is open to lawyers with up to five years of post-qualification experience and current and past professional legal studies trainees who are not yet admitted.

This year's competition has expanded to four regional competitions: Auckland, Waikato Bay of Plenty, Wellington, and Canterbury-Westland.

The national final will be held in Wellington on 21 July before judges of the Supreme Court.
