Timaru lawyer Jane Walsh died on 13 August 2018 aged 37, following an accident.

The President of the Canterbury-Westland Branch of the New Zealand Law Society has paid tribute to Ms Walsh.

Grant Tyrrell says Ms Walsh, a partner at Gresson Dorman & Co, was “a highly talented lawyer and an outstanding person with a (highly approved) wicked sense of humour”, who will leave “a huge gap in many people’s lives”.

“The profession is often at its best at times of greatest need and I have no doubt that our colleagues at Gresson Dorman will have much needed support over the coming weeks and months.  Jane: you will be missed by all fortunate enough to have known you,” he says.

Jane Walsh is survived by her husband Tim and two young children, Hazel and Effie.

The Otago Daily Times says Jane was riding a bicycle early on Sunday, 12 August, when she crashed and suffered serious head injuries before being taken to the intensive care unit in Timaru.

A memorial for Ms Walsh was held on 20 August.
