The Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) has blocked access to its websites by certain unsupported internet browsers from 7 June 2018.

MBIE says its hosting provider has changed a configuration to ensure that its websites - which include the Companies Office - and the data hosted on them stays secure.

MBIE says affected desktop browsers that need an upgrade or alternative browser installed at IE7 and below, Firefox 22 and below, Chrome 21 and below, and Safari 6 and below for OS X 10.8 (Mountain Lion) and below.

Affected mobile browsers are IE10 and below, Android 4.3 (Jelly Bean) and below, Mobile Safari for iOS 4 and below, and Chrome 21 and below.

A number of browsers can be configured to use TLS1.2, and MBIE provides information on how this can be done. For desktop these are IE8, IE9, IE 10, Firefox 23-26 and Chrome 22-37. Mobile browsers are Android 4.4 (KitKat) to 4.4.4 and Chrome 22-37.

The Office of the Privacy Commissioner is also blocking access by the unsupported browsers from 7 June.
