Practice note for District Court proceeding transfer to Earthquake Insurance Tribunal

Chief District Court Judge Jan-Marie Doogue has issued a practice note for transfer of proceedings from the District Court to the Canterbury Earthquakes Insurance Tribunal.

The practice note takes immediate effect.

The practice note applies to applications under section 16 of the Canterbury Earthquakes Insurance Tribunal Act 2019 for transfer of proceedings from the District Court to the Canterbury Earthquakes Insurance Tribunal.

Chief Judge Doogue says the District Court has a number of active proceedings relating to disputes about insurance claims from the 2010 and 2011 Canterbury earthquakes.
