Chapman Tripp has announced 10 promotions in its Auckland, Christchurch and Wellington offices, effective from 1 June 2016.

Promoted to senior associate

Kirsten Todd, Corporate, Christchurch: Kirsten specialises in corporate and commercial law with a particular focus in banking and finance, insolvency and restructuring, commercial contracts, and statutory and regulatory compliance. She advises a variety of clients across a range of sectors including primary industries, the financial services sector and government agencies.

Asha Trotter, Corporate, Wellington: Asha specialises in financial services regulation and corporate law. Asha advises a wide range of financial markets participants on the regulatory landscape applicable to their business. She has also advised on a number of major IPOs, corporate restructurings and corporate governance matters.

Luke Ford, Finance, Auckland: Luke specialises in banking and finance law, with a particular focus on capital markets. He advises clients on a broad range of transactions, including Kauri issues, retail bond offers, derivatives and the impact of the Financial Markets Conduct Act 2013. He has also assisted with applications to, and discussions with, regulators including the Financial Markets Authority.

Phoebe Gibbons, Financial Services, Auckland: Phoebe specialises in securities and commercial law, particularly in the funds management and insurance sectors. She advises clients, including banks, fund managers and insurers on all aspects of financial services compliance and regulatory matters, as well as mergers and acquisitions and corporate restructurings. She advises clients on the Financial Markets Conduct Act and the practical implications for their businesses.

Jared Holt, Litigation & Dispute Resolution, Wellington: Jared specialises in commercial litigation with particular interests in insurance and construction disputes. He has represented public and private sector clients in a variety of tribunals and courts, as well as in mediation and other forms of alternative dispute resolution.

Grace Rippingale, Litigation & Dispute Resolution, Wellington: Grace specialises in civil litigation and dispute resolution. She advises private and public sector clients on a broad range of disputes with particular expertise in insurance, contractual and statutory interpretation, corporate governance, including company directors' and auditors' duties, and the Public Works Act. 

Daniel Street, Litigation & Dispute Resolution, Auckland: 
Daniel specialises in commercial dispute resolution, regulatory investigations and insurance. He advises clients on contract and commercial disputes, including company directors', auditors' and officers' liability, and regulatory cases involving the New Zealand Competition Commission, Financial Markets Authority, Serious Fraud Office and Inland Revenue Department.

Peter Sygrove, Property, Auckland: Peter specialises in all aspects of commercial property law, with a particular focus on commercial office leasing and retail development leasing, due diligence investigations and large commercial property developments. He advises clients on the acquisition and disposal of real estate, including regulation of overseas investment in land under the Overseas Investment Act.

Promoted to senior legal advisor

Tracy Tomsett, Corporate, Wellington: Tracy specialises in corporate and commercial law, advising clients in the private and public sectors on corporate structuring, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, corporate governance and commercial contracting. Tracy has previously worked in Hong Kong and Shanghai, where she specialised in cross-border mergers and acquisitions.

Sanna Boow, Financial Services, Auckland: Sanna specialises in funds management, financial services regulation and securities law compliance of investment products. She advises fund managers, banks and other financial service providers on the Financial Markets Conduct Act and the full range of regulatory and compliance issues affecting the financial services sector, including licensing and registration.
