Auckland barrister Maria Dew has been appointed to lead an investigation into the New Zealand women's hockey Black Sticks team and its team culture.

Hockey New Zealand announced the review following claims that the team coach had created a negative environment within the side.

Ms Dew specialises in employment law and is a member of Bankside Chambers.

The review will be completed by the end of November 2018.
