New Chief Executive for Human Rights Commission

The Human Rights Commission board has appointed Rebecca Elvy as its new Chief Executive.

Ms Elvy, who will take up her role in August 2019, is currently Chief Executive of Ngā Taonga Sound and Vision (New Zealand’s audio-visual archive).

She has postgraduate qualifications in Business Administration and Strategic Studies (Massey University and Victoria University) and has studied Organisational Development at Columbia University.

Pele Walker, the Commission’s chief mediator, has served as Acting Chief Executive since former Chief Executive Cynthia Brophy left in December 2018.
