About the Law Society
The New Zealand Law Society | Te Kāhui Ture o Aotearoa is the Regulatory and Representative body of the legal profession of Aotearoa New Zealand. The Law Society regulates all lawyers practising in New Zealand and is the membership organisation for practising lawyers. With 13 branch offices throughout the country, the Law Society is the Kaitiaki (guardian) of the practice of law in Aotearoa New Zealand and the consumers of legal services.
About the role
We are seeking a capable and willing candidate to join our Member Services (Representative) Department to assist our more than 1650 Canterbury-Westland Branch members.
You will be working as part of the Canterbury-Westland Branch, based in our central city Christchurch office coordinating a range of events, services and activities for the Canterbury-Westland Branch and its membership as part of a small team. You will also be working with a dynamic and motivated group of volunteers to support and connect the local legal profession. The successful candidate will bring administrative skills and expertise, attention to detail, a sound understanding and experience of using relevant technology, and an ability to relate well to lawyers, the public, and the wider legal community.

The hours for this role will be 15 hours each week and will ordinarily be based in the office in central Christchurch, split over two or three days. The nature of the work, however, means there will be some tasks that will need to be completed on a time-bound basis.
