About the Law Society

The New Zealand Law Society | Te Kāhui Ture o Aotearoa is the professional body for barristers and solicitors in New Zealand. The Law Society regulates all lawyers practising in New Zealand and is the membership organisation for practising lawyers. With 13 branch offices throughout the country, the Law Society is the Kaitiaki (guardian) of the practise of law in Aotearoa New Zealand and the consumers of legal services.

About the role

We are seeking an exceptional candidate to join our Member Services department, this role will lead the activities of the Wellington Branch, as well as contribute to Law Society national functions and projects. This is a role with broad operational scope, taking ownership for a wide range of member engagements and services.

Great candidates for this role will be experienced in, and passionate about, the delivery of excellent customer experience. A commitment to fostering positive, proactive engagement with Law Society staff and members is important, as is an ability to provide seamless administrative and operational services to all stakeholders. Experience working with the legal profession or in a member organisation is desirable but not essential.

This is a full-time position working 37.5 hours each week. Some out of hours work may be required from time to time. The ideal applicant will have:

  • The ability to interact positively and maintain positive relationships with key relationship stakeholders
  • Well-developed communication and relationship management skills and experience.
  • The ability to exercise good judgment across a wide range of policy and operational activities and functions
  • Demonstrable leadership and management skills
  • An understanding and appreciation of the legal profession and the services lawyers provide.
