Call for new Commissioners for the Ministry Standards Commission 

Are you interested in working with a team of volunteers to help develop better safeguarding procedures and to manage the Anglican Church in Aotearoa New Zealand and Polynesia’s complaint process? 

Do you have some of the following experience either in your profession or as a volunteer? 

  • Governance experience 

  • Experience in child protection 

  • Experience in professional complaint processes 

Do you have an interest and passion in making the Anglican Church a safe place for all those who attend or experience the Church? 

Do you have time for a monthly virtual meeting of 1.5 hours, usually at 5.30pm on a weeknight and to read some material beforehand?

Background Information: 

The Ministry Standards Commission (MSC) began its operation in January 2021.  The relevant Canon to this work, known as Title D, was revised to establish the work of the Commission.   

The current MSC includes Dianne Cameron, Chair, who is retiring from her position as Chair in the second half of 2025 after a four-year term on MSC, Mele Tu’ilotolava, lawyer representing Tikanga Pacifica, Geremy Hema lawyer representing Tikanga Māori, Beverley Burns as lay person and Stephen Hooper, lawyer and mediator representing Tikanga Pakeha. 

The task of the MSC is to be the governing body of the complaints process and to oversee the work of the Registrar.  The Commission’s remit is broad and includes advice on vetting processes, training, policy guidance and codes of practice.
