Crown Prosecutor - Intermediate or Senior Regulatory/Civil Litigator

Raymond Donnelly is the office of the Crown Solicitor for Christchurch and Greymouth, based in Christchurch.  

In addition to servicing the Crown Solicitor’s warrant, Raymond Donnelly acts for a wide range of government departments and agencies on a broad range of litigation including regulatory prosecutions, judicial reviews, appeals, High Court civil trials, Criminal Proceeds (Recovery) Act cases, alcohol licencing cases and national training, BORA cases, injunctions, harassment cases and a broad range of other civil litigation.  Partners of the firm are also on the Serious Fraud Office and Commerce Commission Cartel Prosecutions panels.

We are recruiting a lawyer with a keen interest in this sphere of work to join our busy regulatory team and welcome applicants from diverse backgrounds.

We are seeking an experienced civil and/or regulatory litigator. The role is 80 per cent civil and regulatory work. There will be some opportunities for Crown warrant work, but the major focus of the role is to work in the firm’s regulatory and civil team under a supervising partner, and with a busy hearings schedule.

Necessary attributes:

  • at least three years PQE;
  • attention to detail and ability to work to early deadlines;
  • ability to write with clarity and precision;
  • advocacy skills with previous appearances in the High or District Court

Ideal attributes:

  • civil litigation experience including drafting proceedings, knowledge of High Court and District Court Rules;
  • regulatory prosecution experience; either as prosecutor or defence;
  • experience and capability in analysing large volumes of documents;
