Well regarded for its long and successful history in Northland, MWIS is led by a highly skilled and experienced team who pride themselves on being efficient, accessible and approachable. MWIS Lawyers is a mid-size law firm based in Whangarei, Northland, and has held the Crown warrant since it was granted in Whangarei over 50 years ago. We are looking for experienced jury trial advocates to join our growing team in Intermediate and Senior Crown Prosecutor positions.

He angitūtanga | The opportunity

In this role, you will be involved in a wide array of criminal matters. While attending court will make up most of your time, you will also be responsible for the review of files and charges, drafting applications and being involved in pre-trial workThe Whangarei Crown Solicitor is responsible for Crown prosecutions throughout Northland and there is a reasonable expectation of travel to attend court hearings for matters in Kaikohe, Kaitaia and Dargaville, as well as appearing in the Whangarei District and High Courts.  Your external stakeholders will include the Police, the Courts, Defence and Corrections.

You will be accustomed to working in a fast paced, busy legal environment.  For candidates that are Senior Practitioners, this role will come with an opportunity to lead and mentor the junior team. For those looking to further develop, you will have access to mentoring and supervision from our highly experienced Partners and Senior Solicitors.
