Experienced Property/Commercial Solicitor - Gisborne

We are looking for a successor to join our Commercial and Property team with an opportunity of short to medium term partnership prospects where a following is not required. We have very senior members of our team looking to retire and who would love over their well-established client base.

We have been providing legal services in the Gisborne district for more than a century and we have been acting for families and particularly farmers, for generations. We also complete work in the forestry sector, act for SME’s and for individuals.

The role requires a commercial and property lawyer who can demonstrate leadership skills and will suit a partner looking to join a partnership, or an intermediate to senior level lawyer who has their eye on partnership. In addition to leadership skills, building long term client relationships will also need to form part of your key strengths to be successful in this role.

The work will involve a broad range of commercial and property matters as well as other matters like trusts and estates that usually tie in with a commercial and property practice in the regions. The firm also has a well-established litigation practice to hand contentious matters to.

We have plenty of support staff and modern technology, ensuring you will not get tied up in junior level work and allowing you to focus on more complex and juicy work. For someone who might still need a bit of guidance, there will be an experienced partner you can turn to who will support you in your path to become a partner.

We value work/life balance and although we are proud to offer a superb service to our clients, we are not just all about producing fees. You will certainly have the time to enjoy the relaxed Gisborne lifestyle with its sun, surf and social life in the heart of the wine country.

Please forward your letter and cv to Amanda Matthews amanda.m@woodward-chrisp.co.nz.
