About the role:
This is a pivotal role where you will work closely with the General Counsel to provide high quality legal support and advice across all aspects of Tasman District Council's business activities.
The role is diverse and interesting, and you'll be expected to provide solution-focused advice on a broad range of topics including local government law (including delegations), privacy, official information, environmental and resource management, planning, building and development, dispute resolution and litigation, commercial, contract, property law, and a whole host of other challenging issues that fall within Council's functions.
About you:
As a qualified and an experienced lawyer, you will have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to communicate complex legal matters clearly and effectively to a range of stakeholders.
Experience in local or central government will be advantageous but not essential, although you must be eligible to hold a practicing certificate.

You can expect the starting base salary to be within the range of $94,626 - $105,140 and a 7% benefits package entitlement.
