A little bit about the role:

We are a looking for a litigation lawyer with 2-7 years’ experience in a legal environment (preferably exposed to litigation at various levels) to be part of our high performing team. 

Working alongside three barristers and a practice manager, you will be working closely with the principal barrister leading litigation files including civil and commercial litigation, human rights and regulatory crime. You will also share general management of files with the remaining two barristers as and when required.

You are an enthusiastic person with a jovial nature with good judgement who can work as part of a high performing team and enjoy working with a degree of autonomy and initiative. You will be a problem solver and have 2-7 years' PQE. We work in a safe, dynamic and fun environment so social skills and the ability to juggle multiple tasks is essential. Attention to detail is an absolute must.

A little bit about us:

We are a well-established but modern barristerial chambers with four staff (three barristers, two employed, and a legal executive/practice manager) in the Auckland CBD. We deal with civil litigation, human rights and regulatory crime.

Summary:

• Leading client work regarding litigation,
• Working closely with the principal barrister on client matters and provide him with key updates as and when required,
• Running client files independently,
• Attending and representing clients in court,
• Overseeing and providing advice to junior staff where required,
• Advanced drafting which ideally includes letter writing and court documents at various levels and stages of litigation,
• Ability to self-manage,
• Deadline aware and orientated,
• Open and assertive communicator,
• Working as part of a team and valuing the contributions of each other,
• Working closely with the practice manager in regards to client requirements, client requests, invoicing and general administration,
• Maintaining and promoting key stakeholder management whether it be internally, with clients and/or with other solicitors and barristers,
• Ensuring ethics and client interactions are of a high standard,
• Communicating clearly, accurately and directly to ensure the right course of action is taken and correspondence to clients is error-free,
