Litigation Graduate Lawyer – Tauranga

Cooney Lees Morgan is a leading regional law firm based in the Bay of Plenty. We are well-known for our workplace culture – we work hard on this, and we don’t take it for granted. You’ll find that we’re supportive, progressive, flexible and an all-round pretty great bunch of people. Our partners are approachable, inclusive and are focused on ensuring each person is supported, achieves their goals and reaches their potential.

The opportunity
Our office based in Tauranga is looking for several graduate lawyers to work in our litigation team. This successful team works across a broad range of legal areas and the successful applicants would have the opportunity to learn from the best.

This role will give you the sought-after opportunity to work across the full suite of instructions handled by our busy team. This will include civil, commercial and property related litigation, employment, resource management, and local government work.

Who we’re after
We’re seeking keen graduate lawyers who may have had some exposure to litigation but more importantly are keen to learn and develop their career in litigation. You will need to have the ability to self-manage basic files, have excellent communication skills (verbal and written), and analyse complex material, with a good dose of common sense and strategic thinking thrown in. You will receive ongoing career support and development.

Those technical skills are only part of the big picture though. Equally important is your alignment with our values:

  • Our litigation team likes to laugh and have fun together, and we always have each other’s backs. We want someone with a sense of humour who’s prepared to help others out where needed.
  • We also believe every day is an opportunity to get better at what we do, so we want someone with a similar attitude to constant improvement and learning.
  • Attention to detail is essential.

On offer

  • Approachable partners and senior team members with great mentoring, support and progression opportunities
  • Varied and interesting client-facing and court experience opportunities from day one
  • Competitive remuneration
  • The opportunity to learn from some of the best in the business, with excellent professional development opportunities
  • Strong commitment to work/life balance, and a well-used flexible working policy
  • This is a rare opportunity to train and learn in a highly-regarded firm.
